For those Interested in Racing

A group of the racing team ready themselves for an early season training ride.
Many of the clubs activities are based around racing. The club is has a large and strong racing contingent. Both road racing and time trials are strongly supported. In addition, we have an excellent set of club colours, simple, but with a classic elegance. To underline the strength and breath of the club, some highlights have been.
  • Michael Hutchinson is an honorary member of Cambridge CC and regularly rides in the CCC evening time trial series.
  • Chris Brooking won the Divisional road race championship in 2001.
  • Rachel Horn took the bronze medal positions in the womens' 25 and 100 mile time trial national championships in 2001.
  • In 2001 a large number of the clubs own records were smashed.
  • In 2004 Track racing and tandem racing return to CCC.
  • The attendence in 2004 at the club evening time trials hit a record level.
  • In 2005, Cambridge CC riders dominated the Easterm Road Race League team prize, took the top three places and won many of the races. Each year since then, Cambridge CC has been placed now lower than the top four in the club compettion.
  • Record breaker Ken Platts in full flight during a Time Trial.
  • Cambridge CC member Ken Platts won the Eastern Counties Cycling Association 12 Hour time trial on 2006, Ken cycled a breath-taking 282.9 miles. The distance also set several age related records.
  • The track team won the Eastern Region Track Championships - Team Persuit in 2006 and 2007. The team went on to ride the National Championships and came a creditable 10th against professional teams.
  • In 2009 the club has about 30 Road race licence holders and a very strong team that came third in the Easterm Road Race League . In addition the Club won the ECCA Championship by collecting points from a wide varirty of events during a three day championship 'weekned'. The club broke the 250 member barrier.

  • As well as race participation, the club organizes two or three races throughout the year, usually at least one Time Trial and one Road Race. The club also organizes and runs a summer long series of evening Time Trials, these are particularly suitable for beginners to cycle racing.
