I am pleased to announce that at the club dinner (Saturday 9th December) our special guest will be Matt Seaton, cycling journalist from The Guardian and author of ’The Escape Artist: Life from the Saddle’ and ‘On Your Bike: The Complete Guide to Cycling’. A booking form can be found HERE. Booking deadline is Friday 1st December but please book as early as possible to avoid disappointment! Helen Eborall, Social Sec.
Through a process of observation, consultation and action research, our club runs captain, Sue Taylor, has decided that three clubruns on Sundays is not enough for the number of riders turning up (up to forty). Hence another group will be formed, this will be called the Sporting Plus ride (details here) Effectively the Sporting run will be split into two (Sporting and Sporting Plus). We hope this will help riders move between groups as they change fitness levels. Terry Dickerson.
The Annual General Meeting will take place at Hills Road Sixth Form College’s Science Lecture Theatre at 7.30pm on Monday 6th November. Last year over thirty attended so please make an effort to come. Plenty of cycle parking on site but cars have to park off site. No doubt there will be a visit to a place of refreshment after the event. Glen Taylor
CCC is celebrating a top 10 placing in the National Team Pursuit Championships. They were competing at Manchester Velodrome against riders of professional status, including Bradley Wiggins, Olympic gold medallist. The Cambridge squad of Robert Cox, Douglas Bradshaw, Johannes Roux and Digby Symons rode their qualifying heat in 4.49.583. For the second round, Roux was replaced by team mate Colin Bark and 4.50.323 was clocked, giving Cambridge CC ninth placing overall. Gold medal went to a team of some of the UK's best track cyclists: Ed Clancy, Steve Cummings, Paul Manning and Chris Newton. Philip Mynott
The club now has a Publicity Officer in the shape of Phil Mynott. Phil has recently rejoined the club after a break of about 10years (welcome back Phil). Phil is a professional photographer and through this has excellent links in the local media. He has already had one story placed in the Cambridge Evening News and is working on feeding them with regular news items. However Phil needs story, race results etc. fed to him. If you have a club story that might be newsworthy then contact Phil on 01223 441995 or phil@philmynottphoto.co.uk.

In the past years, a large number of the clubrun riders have tackled this event and found it both challenging and enjoyable. We are encouraging as many people as possible to pre-enter. Sue Taylor.
The delayed delivery of Cambridge CC club clothing is now with me. I have delivered most of the specially ordered items; however there are a few items to be collected. I also have many stock items for sale; in the past these have sold out quickly so please call me to reserve the items you require. I have Shirts, shorts and skinsuits. Alan Sparks, 01223 247753, alanjoy@spartack4647.fsworld.co.uk.
The Track Championship took place on the on 29th July. There have been reports that it was fun and challenging for all. A set of preliminary results can be found on the message board and a full report and results will be in the next newsletter. Colin.

The Track Championship will be a one day event at Welwyn on 29th July with mens and ladies (if enough enter) championships and if there is enough interest a junior/juvenile championship too. The championship will consist of a range of events, run as an 'omnium'. The winner of the omnium is the one with the least points at the end. If you win an event you get 1 point, 2nd 2 points and so on. If you decide not to take part in an event, you'll get the last place riders point plus 1, e.g. if 25 take part, you'll get 26 points. There may be a booby prize for the largest points scorer (and you can always say to your friends that you scored the most points, they'll think you won). Information and entry contact Colin Bark, 0774 0351379, colin_bark@yahoo.co.uk. A racing license is not required and loan/hire of track bikes can be arranged. First claim members are very welcome to ride and I encourage riders who have never taken part in track or road racing before, you'll love it. Colin.
Club Juniors Tom Platts and Sam O'Rourke are both turning 18 in July. The Cambridge CC road race promotion for the ERRL, the Ike Saul Memorial Road Race is nearly upon us again. It will take place on the Morning of the 23rd July, same place as last year on the Kingston Circuit with the HQ at Bourn Village Hall. Digby Symons has done a lot of the organisation but on the day we need help at the race HQ and for marshalling. I have already had a few offers (direct and via Digby) of help, but I still need more. Any assistance that can be offered will be welcomed. Please send offers to me at terry@leygrove.freeserve.co.uk, indicating and previous experience, preferences, restrictions or special skills. On my return from holiday on the 11th July I will be back in contact to confirm your role. Many Thanks in advance. TERRY

We will be running introductory rides for beginnersover coming months.
When? First Saturday of every month, click here to see a list of events. Where? Addenbrooke's roundabout/bus stop. When? 10am. How Far?! About 35 miles – but this is a lot easier in a group. How Fast? A comfortable spin.
You will need:
A reasonable bike – you’ve got to be comfortable for four hours. E.g. an MTB with slicks (smooth tyres) or a bike that’s a little bit sporty. If you exercise once/twice a week already you’ll find it a lot easier. Cycle shorts and helmets recommended. Chris Adams, 01223 245487.
Joint event with Team Cambridge at The Scout Hut, Perne Road, Cambridge

There will be plenty of space but please contact me ASAP if you would like a table. (hce21@medschl.cam.ac.uk or 01767 651491).
The next club meeting and committee meeting will take place on Monday 8th May (and not the 1st as previously advertised). Other details are Cambridge Blue, committee meeting, 7pm; social 8pm onwards.
You may have noticed that the RR message board has disappeared. This is because the road race team now are using a different method of communication. If you want to sign-up for the new RR message board, contact Colin Bark, 0774 0351379, colin_bark@yahoo.co.uk. The old RR postings on the ERRL board have been merged with the Cambridge CC open message board.
The evening TTs that take place every Thursday evening from April to August are now listed on the 'Local Races' page (there is a Quick Link to the right).
Wiggle is an Internet sports shop that has a good selection of cycling gear. They have a scheme to link club web sites to their cyber-shop. The club is credited for any sales (for the first 3 months of a account being setup). The amount is 10% on parts and accessories, 2% on frames and 1% on complete bikes. I will propose that the funds generated are made available to members via a subsidy on clothing purchases. I hope that this can be done on an individual level. Wiggle is a good option (I've had good service), but please shop around as the club or I cannot take responsibility for poor or erroneous purchases. If appropriate you should use the link below the menu which will trigger the credit to CCC. Terry Dickerson
