Reliability Rides (Posted: 20th November 2003)
It is traditional for "reliability rides to take place during February. The idea is to have a series of rides that steadily get more difficult. This year the first ride in on the 15th February and it covers a 50 mile route. on the 22nd things get a bit tougher as a 75 mile route is followed. The final ride is the 90 mile route which takes place on the 29th. The first two rides take the place of the clubrun and leave at 0900h, but there will be several groups going at different speeds. The 90 mile ride will start at 0830h; the clubrun will meet at 0900h as normal. The routes will be published in the February edition of the club news letter. After notching up your fitness on the reliability rides, why not enter the Cambridge CC Audax on the 7th March? See the article below.

Audax News(Posted: 20th November 2003)
Congratulations and admiration to Lucy Rutter who has topped the Audax UK women points table and become Audax champion for the second year. Lucy gained over 100 points which relates to more than 10,000km of riding in audax events alone. To put her efforts in perspective she rode twice the distance of her nearest rival and only three males rode further than her during the year. Lucy's stamina also contributed greatly to the Cambridge CC points total of 195 for the season putting it in tenth place out of 260 clubs. Respect.

Paris Brest Paris (Posted: 4th September 2003)
Lucy Rutter in the PBPTerry Dickerson on the PBPTwo Cambridge CC riders completed the gruelling 1223km PBP audax which took place in France during August. Both Lucy Rutter and Terry Dickerson finished the ride in under the allotted 90hours.

The club hill climb will take place on Sunday 5th October, starting at 0900h. On that day the clubrun will meet at 0840h so it can take in the hill climb. This will allow club run members to participate and/or spectate. The club run will then go on to its alloted destination.

Etape Du Tour (Posted: 23rd July 2003)
A substantial group of Cambridge CC members went to ride to the Etape du Tour on the 16th July. This ride was held over one of the mountain stages of the Tour de France. Unfortunatly, due to illness and injury, a couple of the riders could not start; however, 12 Cambridge CC members started the event. Despite the easy(ish) looking profile this 200km event actually turned out to be very difficult. So even those that did not finish because thay were out of time should still be proud of their acheivements. A substantial number of CCC riders finished.

Club Open Road Race (Posted: 23rd July 2003)
The club road race was run on the  13th June. The race was a great success with a good size field and lots of 'action'. The organiser Andy Walsh would like to thank all those who gave-up their time to help with the preparations and on the day. The race was wone by Glen Stamford of Eastern egion Velo/Bianchi UK.

Evening Club Run (Posted 30th June 2003)
During the summer months informal clubruns will be heald on Wednesday evenings. The aim is for a two-hour (max) steady paced ride. The emphsis will be on socalising. Cambridge CC and Audax (Posted: 29th June 2003)
The national long distance cycling association - Audax UK - is generally non-compettive in that it does not publish times with event results. However, if you complete a ride you are awarded one point for each 100km covered. These points are totaled in a number of ways, one of which is by club. The good news is that Cambridge CC is in 9th position out of over 250 clubs. So Cambridge CC is doing well. See www.audax.uk.net and go to Results for the details.

Club Open Road Race (Posted: 29th June 2003)
It is time again for our annual road race promotion. It takes place on Sunday 13th July and will be run on the same circuit that we have used in recent years, around the Kingston Area. This year the HQ will be at Bourn Village Hall. Hopefully it will be a good event, the entries are coming in now so there should be a good field. However what we do need is some help. There are a lot of jobs that need to be done on the day such as

* 11 marshalls
* A lead car
* A reserve lead car
* A judge and helpers to place riders at the finish
* First Aid
* And we will need some help with catering.

All helpers get the satisfaction of a good job done for the club and a free tea and cake Contact Andy walsh at andywalshyboy@yahoo.co.uk  or phone him on (01638) 602919

The first ride will start on Tuesday 15th April, the short route will be used for the first few weeks and then the longer route will be used. Start is at 1845h from Newnham Corner. Your will need lights, tools and know the way home and strong legs and lungs!.
