Etape du Tour 2003 (Posted: 30th September 2002, updated 8 November 2002 and 14th December 2002)
Ten  CCC members and one non-member have signed-up for the Etape du Tour which will take place in July 2003. All are going on an 8-day coach trip - taking bikes of course. Should be good, we get to ride the EdT, see two stages of the TdF in the mountains and ride in some fabulous scenery. There are a few places left on the tour so if anybody else wants to go contact me sharpish. Terry Dickerson, (1223) 842917.

CCC Message Board (Posted: 14th December 2002)
Don't forget CCC has a message board, use to to advertise rides, for sale and wanted ads, announcements, post (clean) cycling jokes and much more! Click on the 'Messages' button to the right.

Etap du Tour 2003 (Posted: 30th September 2002, updated 8 November 2002)
The EdT is a mass ride on closed roads over one of the Tour de France's stages. Three CCC members completed the ride in 2002. Details of the date and route are unveiled in the last week October 2002 - after which the places are usually sold out in a few days. Several club members will be doing the 2003 Etap du Tour in 2003.
I am coordinating entry for the 2003 event for CCC members, if you are interested in riding the EdT please let me know. The booking will be made through Graham Baxter Sporting Tours which will provide entry to the EdT, transport and accommodation. The thing will go like this

  1. Call me or send me your contact details.
  2. I will send you details and a booking form, or you could get these from the Sporting Tours website.
  3. You will have a short time to decide if you want to go - I will make the booking on the 13th November so you need to be quick.
  4. Get the booking form and deposit cheque to me (£195).
  5. I will book X places on one of the tours (group discount for greater than 6 bookings).
  6. Will send you confirmation.

That is all there is to it, but you need to be quick.  Terry Dickerson, (1223) 842917.

Cambridge CC Dinner and Prize Presentation (Posted: 8th November 2002)
This will take place on the 7th December, same venue as last year, more details to follow.

Winter Mid-Week Rides (Posted: 19th September 2002)
A couple of CCC members will be taking rides on Wednesday evenings. If you have the time and inclination to join us, you will be welcome. The aim is to have steady group rides to keep ticking over during the winter. Meet at the war memorial in Trumpington at 1745h. Attendance will obviously be dictated by the weather and lights will be needed.

CCC Annual General Meeting(Posted: 2nd September 2002, updated 26th October)
The CCC AGM will be held on Monday 4th November. Not happy with something and want it changed? Well this is your opportunity to get those changes made.

The 'Cambridge' Audax(Posted: 19th September 2002)
On the 29th September the annual Cambridge audax takes place. For the last four years a large club contingent has ridden this 104km event. This year we are encouraging as many club members to ride as possible. Fill out an AUK entry form, I will be handing them out at the club runs with the following details:
Event name: Cambridge
From: Hauxton   Distance:104km   Date: 29/9/02    Fee: £3
Personal Details: Your own obviously!
Club: Cambridge CC
and sent the form with a cheque for the above amount made to to Mr Stapleton and two SAEs
To: Mike Stapleton, 87 Beechwood Avenue, Melbourn, Nr Royston, Herts, SG8 9BW. If you are not an AUK member you will need to pay the extra £1 for temporary insurance.

October Committee Meeting and Club Social (Posted: 2nd September 2002)
We thought that we would try an experiment with the next meeting. Instead of it being held in the Monsanto social club (Trumpington), we are moving to the Cambridge Blue Pub (Gwydir Street). This is a more central location and serves food and (obviously) drinks. Committee meeting 1900h-2000h and then its down to serous drinking, eating and chatting. All welcome. Is this a good idea? You could vote with your feet and come along or you could let me, Terry Dickerson, know by e-mail.

Mid-Week Rides (Posted: 2nd September 2002)
The mid-week rides have now discontinued for the winter period. Attendance this year has been rather patchy this year, perhaps this was because of the change of day from Tuesday to Wednesday? What about next year, what day do you prefer? Let me know.

Club Runs Updated(Posted: 16th August 2002, revised 2nd September 2002)
The list of clubruns has been updated up until the end of October. Click on the 'What's On By Date' button to the right to see the full list. Woops - forgot to up load the new files - done now!

CCC Website Moves(Posted: 17th July 2002)
The Cambridge CC website has moved to another ISP; hopefully you will notice no real difference in the service. There is one major change and that is that the URL is www.cambridge-cycling-club.org.uk. We are now an 'org' rather than a 'co' which describes the club better. The old URL should work for some while, but please change your short-cuts or favorites to the new address.

Mid-Week Rides (Posted: 22th June 2002 updated 16th August 2002)
The weekly mid-week rides will continue every Wednesday throughout the summer. Rides will be at a steady pace and cover about 15 to 25miles (25 to 40km). The emphasis will be on having a social ride - why not give it a go? Attendance has been patchy this year so perhaps you all preferred the run on Tuesday evenings?

CCC Moves up the AUK Rankings(Posted: 16th August 2002)
Audax UK, the long distance cycling association, have rankings for several things, including for clubs. Basically for every 100km ridden the club gets 1 point. Cambridge CC is now in 18th position with 46 points. Well 18th may not sound very good but this is out of about 200 clubs so it is actually quite good. In addition several members have registered as something else than 'Cambridge CC' so the points go elsewhere. Still, we have a long way to go to catch the leading club, which has about 450 points or 45,000km!

Club Time Trials Series (Posted: 6th July 2002)
The time trials series is over halfway complete and competition is hotting up. Nick Jackson and Tony Hornbuckle are locked in a duel for the top spot. See the race results, button to the right, for the full listing of results.

Both take place at Newton, next to the Queens Head pub, south-west of Cambridge. Click here or on the "Local Races" button to the right to get more details and to see a full list of events. Alternatively contact Terry Dickerson on 01223 842917 or Bill Clough on 01223 861386.

Club Message Board (Posted: 17th March 2002)
The clubs message board was taken off-line by the supplier - it seemed that they wanted paying for future use. So Mark Fraser opened a new one with another company. Mark says that the new one is better than the original one. Anyway I have linked the "Messages" buttion to the right to the new board. Why not give it a go:

Mid-Week Rides (Posted: 7th February 2002)
Over the last few years during the summer months a Tuesday evening club run has been organized. These have been steady paced rides to complement the fast chain gang rides. Rides for this year have been advertised in the "by day" diary for Tuesdays starting on 7th May. I have had some requests to change the day of the rides to Wednesday. If you have a preference, please let me, Terry Dickerson, know which day you prefer.

Sunday the 10th February sees the traditional CC 50mile "reliability ride". These take the place of the club runs but there will be club run speed groups - as well as the normal road race. A change this year is that the ride will finish in Fulbourn at the house of Angela Platt who has offered to water and feed us at the end of the ride - hooray for Angela.
On the two following Sundays the 75mile and 100ish-mile will go out. For both of these rides there will be alternative (shorter) club runs.
